Welcome to my site!

I grew up in Jingdezhen (景德镇 /ˈdʒɪŋˈdɛdʒɛn/), a small city in southern China. In 2012, I received a postgraduate scholarship and made one of the biggest decisions in my life and came to Australia to start a PhD degree.

In 2016, I completed my PhD from the University of New South Wales. I then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Ecogenomics. My research is to identify environmentally and biotechnologically important microbial communities using high-throughput DNA sequence data.

In my spare time, I am also a writer in Toward Data Science, where I share good coding and data analysis practices in broad topics.

I love dealing with complex data and it’s my passion to apply data insights to tell stories and solve problems. I am enthusiastic about leveraging methods of modern statistics and data visualisation to extract patterns from intertwined datasets. I also have a strong interest in machine learning.

I am currently living and working in Sydney, Australia.
